t The Town of Greenport will hold a Public Hearing at 5:45 P.M. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Greenport Town Hall, 600 Town Hall Drive, Hudson, N.Y., preceded by a workshop meeting at 5:00 P.M. and followed by a Town Board meeting at 6:00 P.M. The Public Hearing will be to discuss plans to demolish property at 327 Lincoln Blvd. which is in a state of disrepair and has been declared to be unsafe and a public nuisance. Residents will be given the opportunity to voice their concerns in favor of or against the demolition.
The Town will be able to accommodate in-person public attendance at this meeting, however, interested parties are afforded the opportunity to present public comment in writing or orally during the public broadcast online at meet.google.com/kev-qspx-xbt or by telephone at (US) +1 910-745-6752, PIN:242821470. The Town of Greenport is seeking applications for part-time Park Maintenance Workers.
The Town of Greenport will be flushing hydrants during daytime hours (6 am-2:30 pm) on April 12-14, 2023. Flushing will continue during evening hours (9 pm-5 am) from Sunday evening-Friday morning, beginning Sunday, April 16, 2023 and continuing through Friday, May 11, 2023. Residents should plan accordingly.
Assessor Office Closed on Wednesday, March 29th and Monday, April 3rd will reopen on Wednesday, April 5th at 12:30pm.
Please be advised that the Town of Greenport has declared a Snow Emergency starting at 4:00 P.M. today (Monday) and ending on 4:00 P.M. Wednesday. There is to be no parking on Town of Greenport roads during those hours. Vehicles will be subject to being ticketed and/or towed.
Article III Snow Emergencies
[Adopted 11-7-2007 by L.L. No. 4-2007] § 104-11Highway Snow Emergency. A. During the winter months from November 15 to the succeeding April 15, whenever the Town Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Greenport finds, on the basis of falling snow, sleet or freezing rain, or on the basis of a forecast by the United States Weather Bureau or other meteorological data indicating the threat of snow, sleet or freezing rain, that weather conditions could severely impede vehicular traffic in the Town, or are likely to create hazardous road conditions or road conditions impeding or likely to impede the free movement of fire, health, police, emergency or other vehicular traffic vital to the health, safety and welfare of the community, the Town Superintendent of Highways shall be authorized to declare a Highway Snow Emergency. B. In addition to the foregoing, a Highway Snow Emergency shall automatically go into effect whenever an accumulation of snow or ice is anticipated and shall apply to all Town roads. [Amended 4-6-2022 by L.L. No. 2-2022] C. During the period of a Highway Snow Emergency, all vehicles shall be prohibited from parking on Town streets, roads or highways. D. In accordance with the provisions of this article, any vehicle that, in the discretion of the Town Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Greenport, is found to obstruct the efficient removal of snow and ice from the Town's streets, roads and highways during a Highway Snow Emergency shall be in violation of this provision and shall be impounded (tagged, towed and stored) by order of the Town Superintendent of Highways. E. All towing and storage charges of illegally parked vehicles shall be solely the vehicle owner's expense. TOWN OF GREENPORT

Also, the the Greenport Town Hall offices will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023 in honor of President's Day. Trash pickup will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

A LOCAL LAW AMENDING CHAPTER 110, SECTIONS 110-1 and 110-2 OF THE TOWN CODE OF THE TOWN OF GREENPORT, SENIOR CITIZENS EXEMPTION BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Greenport in the County of Columbia (the “Town”) as follows: Section 1. Title of the Local Law. This local law shall be entitled “A Local Law Amending Chapter 110, Sections 110-1 and 110-2 of the Town Code of the Town of Greenport, Senior Citizens Exemption.” Section 2. Authorization. This Local Law to amend the Town Code of the Town of Greenport is enacted pursuant to the authorization established by New York State Municipal Home Rule Law Section 10. Section 3. Purpose. The Town of Greenport finds that due to a changing economy and state guidance on the same the Town needs to update its maximum income for the sliding scale option for the senior citizen real property tax exemption. Section 4. Amendment of Section 110-1 of the Town Code. Section 110-1, titled “Exemption Established,” is hereby repealed and replaced with the following language: “In accordance with § 467 of the Real Property Tax Law, property owners over 65 years of age who are owners of real property used exclusively for residential purposes may be exempt from Town real property taxes. The Town desires to provide such exemption in accordance with 110 Attachment 4 if said owners fulfill certain qualifications, including a limited income of the owner or the combined income of owners of real property which does not exceed a maximum income limit as set forth in RPTL § 467.” Section 110-2, titled “Sliding Scale Option” is hereby repealed and replaced with the following language: “The Town hereby adopts the sliding scale option set forth in 110 Attachment 4.” Section 5. Severability. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section or part of this Local Law shall be adjudged by any Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the remainder thereof, but shall be confined to its operation in said clause, sentence, paragraph, section or part of this Local Law. Section 6. Supersession. Pursuant to the powers granted by the Municipal Home Rule, this Local Law supersedes all provisions of the Town of Greenport Town Code, in so far as such statues are inconsistent with this Local Law and any other laws or regulations of the Town of Greenport are superseded to the extent necessary to give this Local Law full force and effect. All other provisions shall remain the same. Section 7. Effective Date. This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing in the office of the Secretary of State in accordance with Municipal Home Rule Law Section 27. |
