In closing, the Department of Health thanked the Water Department for being conscientious and diligent in operating and maintaining the water supply facilities in a satisfactory manner.

State of New York Proposed Local Law No. 2 of 2023 A LOCAL LAW TO AMEND CHAPTER 48 OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF GREENPORT, SHORT-TERM RENTALS BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Greenport as follows: Section 1. Title of Local Law. This Local Law shall be titled “A Local Law to Amend Chapter 48 of the Code of the Town of Greenport, Short-Term Rentals.” Section 2. Authorization. This Local Law to amend the Chapter 48 of the Town Code of the Town of Greenport as enacted pursuant to the authorization established in the New York State Municipal Home Rule Law Section 10. Section 3. Amendments of Chapter 48 of the Town Code of the Town of Greenport.
“Following receipt of site plan approval in accordance with Chapter 101 of the Town Code, each applicant for a short-term rental under this chapter shall register its short-term rental by written application on a form supplied by the Town Clerk setting forth the following:” And replace with:
D. No application shall be entertained or approved without site plan approval if the building contains more than two (2) bedrooms for rent in a building.
Section 8. Severability. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, or part of this Local Law or the application thereof to any individual, firm or corporation, or circumstance, shall be held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unconstitutional, such order or judgment shall not affect, impair, or invalidate the remainder thereof, but shall be confined in its operation to the clause, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, or part of this Local Law or in its application to the individual, firm or corporation or circumstance, directly involved in the controversy in which such judgment or order shall be rendered. Section 9. Supersession. Pursuant to the powers granted by the Municipal Home Rule, this Local Law supersedes all provisions of the Town of Greenport Town Code, in so far as such statues are inconsistent with this Local Law and any other laws or regulations of the Town of Greenport are superseded to the extent necessary to give this Local Law full force and effect. All other provisions shall remain the same. Section 10. Effective Date. This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing in the office of the Secretary of State in accordance with Municipal Home Rule Law Section 27.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND TOWN BOARD MEETING Town of Greenport PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that at 5:45 p.m. on September 6, 2023 at 600 Town Hall Drive, Greenport New York, the Greenport Town Board shall hold a public hearing on Local Law #2 of 2023 to amend Chapter 48 of the Code of the Town of Greenport relating to Short-Term Rentals. The Local Law can be viewed on our website, townofgreenport.com. The hearing will give people the opportunity to voice their concerns and comments and submit written comments to the Greenport Town Clerk at the address above or emailed to townclerk@townofgreenport no later the 12:00pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. The second Public Hearing will follow at 6:00 P.M. to hear all persons interested in the proposed improvement of the facilities of the Greenport Water District. The map, plan and report for the improvements are available in the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours from 8 am until 3pm Monday through Friday. By order of the Greenport Town Board Sharon Zempko, Town Clerk Town of Greenport TruGreen will be treating various areas of the Town Park on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. As such, the Park will be closed on Tuesday, August 22nd, and will reopen on Wednesday, August 23rd. Please plan accordingly.
Cedar Parkway, at the entrance from Joslen Blvd is closed. Local traffic only can enter and exit at Gifford Parkway to reach Riverview Boulevard and Cedar Parkway. The entrance on the Cedar Parkway end will be closed to traffic for two weeks or until work on the water tower is complete.
Do to the chance of a storm tonight, the concert at the Greenport Town Park will be postponed and rescheduled for September 1st, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm.
The Assessor's office hours have changed. The updated times are as follows:
Wednesday, 12:30 - 4pm and Friday, 9am - 1:30pm As you may be aware, 2 of the Town's water tanks are being rehabilitated this summer. Work on the Bubble Tank (located near Colarusso Quarry off of Route 9 South) has been completed, and the tank is currently being refilled. Customers in that area, including Friss Tract and Healy Boulevard, may notice some discoloration of their water while this occurs. Your patience is appreciated.
