The Town of Greenport Water District has issued a BOIL WATER ORDER for Water District customers who are located off Fairview Avenue in the area between Delaware Avenue and the red light at Shoprite.  This is due to a water main break on Fairview Avenue in front of Furniture Plus.  The boil water advisory has been issued out of an abundance of caution due to the water break and shall continue until further notice.

Please follow these steps when using water:  Bring tap water to a rolling water, boil for one minute and cool before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health.  Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food and infant formula, until further notice.  Use paper plates and utensils to avoid dish washing.  Limit showers and baths.  Do only full loads of laundry, and be sure to check the water in the washtub prior to adding clothes.  Only use as much tap water as is essential until further notice.

Due to the upcoming storm, the weekly recycling pick up in the Town of Greenport will be suspended until Friday December 18th.  Residents are asked to wait until Friday morning to place their recycling bins out to avoid unnecessary debris in the roadways for those plowing.

You may be ticketed and or towed if parked on the street, as this makes it difficult for the plows to get through.

There will be a Special Town Board meeting on Monday December 14, 2020 at the Greenport Town Hall @ 600 Town Hall Drive @ 3:45pm.  
The reason is for changes to the Town of Greenport insurance.
