NOTICE OF CHANGE IN DATE OF TOWN BOARD MEETING
The Town of Greenport will hold a Town Board meeting on Tuesday, October 1, at 6:00 pm preceeded by a workshop meeting at 5:00 pm at the Greenport Town Hall, 600 Town Hall Drive, Hudson, New York. The change in the meeting night is due to the Jewish Holiday, Rosh Hashanah that starts on Wednesday evening October 2, 2024. The Town is allowing people to join us in person. You may also join us virtually at meet.google.com/ rxk-refy-xur or by phone at (US)+1 318-536-1063 (PIN 330256213) or submit written comments to the Town Board, Attn. Sharon Zempko, Town Clerk at the address above or via email to townclerk@townofgreenport and must be received no later than Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. Some of the things that we will be discussing are the tentative budget for 2025 and the Halloween Display and food truck at Wortman Square.

garbage_bags.pdf MUSIC AT SUNSET 2024 The Greenport Town Park on Joslen Blvd. will be hosting its last live band concert of the season this Friday night, September 13, 2024. Grab all your friends, family and dancing shoes and come rock the early evening away. The very popular band, Tailgate, will take the stage from 6 P.M until 8 P.M. playing Modern Country and 70’s, 80’s and 90’s Classic Rock. Our food concession will be serving up some good food as usual. TOWN OF GREENPORT LOCAL LAW NO. 3 OF 2024
A LOCAL LAW AUTHORIZING LIBRARY TAXES AS A SEPARATE ITEM ON THE TOWN OF GREENPORT PROPERTY TAX BILL BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Greenport in the County of Columbia as follows: Section 1. Title of Local Law. This local law shall be entitled “A Local Law Authorizing Library Taxes as a Separate Item on the Town of Greenport Property Tax Bill”. Section 2. Authorization. This local law is enacted pursuant to the Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York. Section 3. Purpose. The purpose of this local law is to authorize Columbia County to separately itemize on the annual Town of Greenport Property Tax Bill, all taxes levied on behalf of the Hudson Area Association Library by the Town of Greenport under the provision of NYS Education Law Section 259(b). Section 4. Amendment to Chapter 110 of the Town Code. The Town Board of the Town of Greenport hereby amends Chapter 110 of the Town of Greenport Town Code (Taxation) as follows:
Section 5. Supercession. Pursuant to the powers granted by the Municipal Home Rule Law, this local law supercedes all provisions of the Town of Greenport Town Code, to the extent such statutes are inconsistent with this local law, and any other laws or regulations of the Town of Greenport are superceded to the extent necessary to give this Local Law full force and effect. All other provisions shall remain the same. Section 6. Severability. The provisions of this local law shall be deemed independent of all other provisions of Chapter 110, and if any provision herein shall be deemed or declared invalid, all other provisions of Chapter 110 shall remain valid and enforceable. Section 7. Effective Date. This local law shall take effect immediately upon the filing in the Office of the Secretary of State in accordance with Municipal Home Rule Law Section 27. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND TOWN BOARD MEETING Please take notice that the Town of Greenport will hold a Public Hearing at 5:45 P.M. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 preceded by a workshop meeting at 5:00 P.M. and followed by a regular Board meeting at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Greenport Town Hall, 600 Town Hall Drive, Hudson, New York. The Public Hearing will be to present Local Law #3-2024 which will give authorization to the County of Columbia to separately itemize on the Town of Greenport Property Tax Bill, all taxes levied on behalf of the Hudson Area Association Library by the Town of Greenport under the provision of chapter 414 of NYS law. It is in the best interest of the taxpayers of the Town of Greenport to be informed on their local real property tax bills of the amount which is to be levied for such purposes. Successful candidate must be certified by the State of New York, have a good knowledge of real property valuation, be able to process transfers and review deeds for accuracy, administer real property tax exemptions mandated by NYS, attend grievance & SCAR hearings, testify in court regarding assessments and any related work as required. The meeting will be held at the Greenport Town Hall, 600 Town Hall Drive, Hudson, New York. The public hearing will be for residents to be given the opportunity to voice their concerns in favor of or against Local Law #2-2024 which is to place a temporary moratorium, for a period of six (6) months, on the development of cannabis retail dispensaries within the Town of Greenport to allow for the comprehensive evaluation of potential impacts, development of appropriate regulations, and alignment with New York State law and regulations. This moratorium is intended to ensure that the Town can effectively address the location, operation and public health considerations related to cannabis facilities.
