The Greenport Historical Society is pleased to present its next program on one such family, "Portrait of a Greenport Family: The Pizzas", Thursday, May 16, 2013.
Between 1900 and 1930 Hudson and the surrounding town of Greenport grew by thirty percent. Thousands of immigrants came to build the new commercial businesses, expand the agricultural and transportation base, and fill the professional and political ranks. Among these new citizens were " The Sons and Daughters of Italia". The Greenport Historical Society is pleased to present its next program on one such family, "Portrait of a Greenport Family: The Pizzas", Thursday, May 16. Speaker Mary Ann Pizza Iaccino will give a PowerPoint presentation on Carmine and Maria Pizza and their Greendale farm as well as their family history in Columbia County. John Florio, representative of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, will provide an introduction.. The program starts at 7pm at the Greenport Town Hall on Town Hall Drive and is is open free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
